Level 1

This class series is geared towards beginners who are curious about burlesque, want more confidence in their body or just want to have fun being sexy!  We’ll cover everything you need to create your first solo burlesque act and feel confident taking it of either on-stage or for a private 1 on 1 treat for your lover!

New performer looking to refine and expand your technique and build some classic foundation? This class is perfect for you as well!

At our graduation show  you’ll have the option to perform your new solo act! Not ready for a solo ? We’ll also be doing a fun group number you can perform in! If you aren’t interested in performing and just want to do it for fun, no sweat performing is not required.

Each class we will work on the different burlesque elements and techniques you’ll need to put together an act – whether your performing it in the bedroom or on stage! Bring your dancing shoes! No Dance Experience required! With Graduation Show including professional photos and videos of your debut act!

Burlesque Queen Package includes props, gloves, stockings and practice boa to use in class and access to Miss Spent Youth’s private facebook group for students. 

Each week you’ll receive a worksheet to reenforce what you learned and keep you moving forward on your sensual journey.

Classes are held at Crown City Dance in Pasadena

Week 1 April 7th: Body Confidence and Burlesque Basics  – We’ll work on body confidence and conveying sexuality in your own unique way! We’ll learn about character and how to move to different styles of music, how to tell a story and build anticipation with your act.

Week 2- April 14th: Taking It Off – You’ll learn how to take different clothing pieces off with different techniques for glove and stocking peels. We’ll talk about building anticipation during your act and teasing the audience. Week 2 is also when you’ll bring in the music you’ve decided on for your solo act and we’ll discuss your vision and ideas for the number.

April 21st – No Class – work on your act

Week 3- April 28th: Props and Costuming -We’ll learn how to work a boa, then explore how different costume pieces can be used and taken off on stage. We’ll talk about the costume pieces you plan on using in your solo routine.

Week 4 – May 5th:   Moving with Sensuality – We’ll work on basic dance moves and combinations you can incorporate in to your routines and work on connecting with your audience  and turning up the sex appeal!  We’ll learn the group routine for graduation

Week 5 -May 12th: The Finishing Touches -We’ll work on putting all the techniques together and adding transitions, creating stage pictures, traveling across the stage and engaging with the audience.

Week 6 – May 19th:  Act Review and Rehearsal (Performance Option Students Only)We’ll review your solo act, get feedback and tackle trouble spots. Then rehearse the group number and make sure everyone has everything they need to be ready for the Graduation show!

Graduation Show :  This is your debut performance! It’s going to be amazing! We’ll get photos and videos of your act that you can can use to submit to other burlesque shows or to leave your friends in awe. Solo performances from graduating students, student group number plus some special guest performances from inspiring LA performers. If at any time you want a private one-on-one to work on specific areas we can always book something. I want you to feel sexy and confident and I’m here to assist you in any way possible.

And Beyond: Everyone who takes my classes gets access to my exclusive Facebook Group where I share on-going tutorials and offer tips and tricks to help you continue on your burlesque journey. Plus you can communicate with other students and learn from each other!

Level 2

This class series is geared towards performers who have taken Level 1 or have been performing for a few years and want to gain classic skills, increase poise and refinement on stage and take their acts up a notch! This is a great class if you feel like you want to add some ompf to your performances or want to get booked in bigger, better shows and festivals.

You’ve gotten your debut out of the way! Now that the jitters are out and you’re settling into performing it’s time to refine those skills you learned and go from a beginner burlesque dancer to a Burlesque Dancer! Through out the 6 week series we will workshop an existing act you want to improve or a new act that is ready for stage and find ways to elevate it to the next level. You’ll learn valuable lessons from hearing other performers critiques and start seeing how to self critique. We’ll also learn a variety of skills and tips for choreographing, costuming and taking your performance to the next level. We’ll also talk about the business side of Burlesque and how to get booked more and make money!

At our graduation show  you’ll perform your revamped act and show off your elevated skills in our fun group number!

Each class we will work on next level burlesque elements and techniques to help you get ready for bigger and better show, stages and even competitions. All sizes and abilities enthusiastically welcomed!  – class size is limited to 10 students.

Package includes  professional photo and video of your graduation performance and access to Miss Spent Youth’s private facebook group for students and IG casting group.

Each week you’ll learn techniques that are reinforced by choreography and applied in your homework assignments. The 6 week series is meant to help you tackle different aspects of building or improving an act and receive targeted, actionable feedback along the way.
